Last night on Parkinson (ABC 1), there was a Masterclass by Lang Lang, who is considered the best Chinese pianist of his time. He has performed with the Vienna Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic, and all of the top American orchestras. He has inspired more than 40 million Chinese schoolchildren to take up piano throughout his career. Needless to say, his interview with Parkinson was fascinating as he talked about his childhood and technique, and played some of his favourite pieces, before giving a masterclass to a Royal Academy of Music student.
For the musically inclined, his advice is invaluable, his playing almost entrancing. He is truly a gifted pianist and musician.
