Depuis

Today I learnt something new in French: the word “depuis”. It basically means “since” or “for” and is often used when saying things like “J’apprends le français depuis deux ans,” which translates to “I’ve been learning French for two years.”

Other examples include:

˜”Elle travaille depuis deux jours.” – “She’s been working for two days.”

“˜Il habite ici depuis deux mois.” – “He has lived here for two months.”

“Nous habitons ici depuis dix ans.” – “We have lived here for ten years.”

See if you can translate the sentences below!

˜”Nous habitons ici depuis cinq mois.”

“˜Je l’attends depuis trois heures.”

˜”J’attends le train depuis dix minutes.”

“Elle chante depuis trois ans.”

À bientôt!
