Thoughts on “La vie est un long fleuve tranquille”

La Vie Est Un Long Fleuve Tranquille. This afternoon in French class we watched a movie called La vie est un long fleuve tranquille, (which translates to ‘Life is a long, quiet river’). It’s a comedy made in 1988 by Étienne Chatiliez, and it tells the story of two children who were switched at birth, one going to a upper middle-class family, and the other going to a poor  family. Twelve years later the mistake is discovered and the child living with the poor family is sent back to his real parents.
It was an odd movie, but kind of enjoyable. It was very hard to understand, as we didn’t have subtitles for English! But I quite enjoyed it though.
